Wrangler Jacki

Jacki Michell was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She graduated from a trade school for Muscle Therapy but quickly traded the East for the West and now calls Colorado home. She is a forth year wrangler and has also worked in the kitchen and housekeeping departments as well.  Jacki is known for her amazing massages and many guests even credit her for “the best massage they’ve had.” She spends her winters in Vail and McCoy with her boyfriend Chris.   Amy Galipeault, is a first year employee here at BMR. She grew up on the east coast and has been residing in Vermont for the past 8 years. She just graduated from Vermont Technical College with a B.S in Equine Studies. She is a certified Equine Sports Therapist and hopes to move forth in that field in the future. Wrangler Floriane

Bonjour! Floriane Meylan, known as Flo, is visiting all the way from France. She grew up in Paris and studies Art and Design in Lyon. She has a love (and talent) for rock climbing and drawing. This is Flo’s second time in America and her first year working on the ranch. Flo has traveled around Europe and even though her favorite country is Ireland, she says there is no place like Black Mountain Ranch. Mamie was born and raised in Michigan. She grew up in a crazy large Italian family, everyone being very close, whether they could help it or not 🙂 Mamie went to small schools all her life where she participated in several sports, including soccer and softball. She graduated with 50 students, all of whom she is still very close with.  After high school Mamie attended Northern Michigan University, where she studied Hospitality Management. Reasons to Visit BMR

Guests come to Black Mountain Ranch for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, it’s for the riding. But there’s also the breathtaking scenery with views of the Rocky Mountains. Wrangler Megan

Megan Soyars was born in San Antonio, Texas but was raised in the small town of Helotes, Texas. On her father’s ranch, she helped raise cows, pigs, goats, sheep, and chickens. After highschool, she attended college at Trinity Universtiy in San Antonio. Since graduating, she has lived in Wyoming and New York City, where she held down a number of jobs, including waitress, housekeeper, book seller and editorial assistant. McCoy, CO

The town of McCoy came to be established in the 1890’s when Charles McCoy relocated his roadhouse there (it was originally located along the stage road mentioned in last weeks post). His roadhouse expanded to a 15 room hotel, with a dining room that became known for its delicious food made by his wife Rebecca. People would travel from all around just to eat Mrs. McCoy’s acclaimed meals. A post office was built, named after McCoy, which served the town population of 75. Wrangler Josh

Josh was born in Huntington Beach, California. He calls many places “home” including Georgia, Michigan, Colorado, and pretty much all of California. Sports kept Josh busy growing up as he participated in football, baseball, water polo, martial arts and of course all beach/water activities. He loves surfing and playing beach volleyball with his friends. Josh volunteers with SWAT (Summer Winter Action Tours) which is a leader in the student travel industry providing specialized trips for high school and college kids.
