For 2012 we are looking for:

  • Housekeeper / Kitchen Helper

Housekeepers / Kitchen helpers duties rotate between cleaning guest cabins and common areas, laundry service and helping with breakfast, lunch and dinner service. Helping as needed in both departments. Job experience preferred but not necessary. Staff must be team players able to work with minimal supervision and able to take directions from a supervisor. The position requires a flexible person willing to work long hours dependent on guest counts. When time permits we encourage our staff to ride horses, participate in white water rafting and participate in evening activities. The position pays an hourly wage plus tips and includes room and board.

  • Wrangler

Wranglers are responsible for maintaining the health and condition of the horses and other livestock and for maintaining the safe, functional and clean condition of the barn.  Wranglers lead trail rides for riders of all abilities and ages.  Wranglers will also be expected to help out with other ranch activities which could include trap shooting, fly and spin fishing, over night pack trips, cattle drives and the kids program.  Wranglers will also drive our shuttle vans to white water rafting in Glenwood Springs (you will have the option to raft with the guests), the Steamboat Springs rodeo, and airport pick ups in both Denver and Vail.  Wranglers will also be expected when time permits to help maintain the grounds on the ranch, fix or build fence and help out with general ranch chores.  Wranglers are also expected to participate in evening activities with the guests such as the over night pack trip, the dinner ride, dancing, bar tending or playing music in the Saloon.  The ranch is open from May 29th through the end of September and we will be looking for folks who can stay through at least the middle of August, preferable longer.

Because wranglers are on the front line with our guests we look for a western appearance including cowboy hats, boots, clean jeans.

Minimum job requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Physically fit and able to lift 75 pounds
  • Willing to work long hours
  • Clean driving record
  • Current first aid and CPR
  • Have skills in western riding and horsemanship, experience in working with a herd.
  • Be a willing team player and work on your own with little supervision.

Skills which set you apart (and help you get the job):

  • Experience in giving horseback riding instruction, experience leading trail rides
  • Experience with fly fishing, spin fishing, trap shooting, archery
  • Dancing – line or swing
  • Musical talents – singer or guitar player?  Piano works as well.
  • Experience working with kids and organizing activities
  • Hiking, Interpretive walks
  • Carpentry, mechanical, welding
