Is the time of sunset really changing already?!

July 28th- August 11th How crazy is it that we’re beginning week 12 right now? I was just writing about SNOW on the second day of summer and now Avery and Zach are heading to school and Thatcher is packing up for college… Good lord. Quick update for those reading on Blondie’s healing process and other horse craziness! Blondie is healing up nicely but last week Cyndy noticed she was off in her front and still quite swollen in the back, having had her stiches out she feared it might ...

July 14th - 28th The weeks themselves turn into a Rodeo

The week of the 14thto 21stbrought us people from Germany, Scotland and of course multiple states across America aging from as young as 7! For those wondering, our cut off age for riding is 6yrs old but we do accept guests younger if they have a parent or an adult to watch them. This week brought us some fun and respectful kids, which is always a gamble as we’re getting to know people out here. I got the honor of teaching Waylon, JT, Charlie and James, who were all young gentleman under the ...

From the 4th of July to Lighting in the Sky

For those of you who do read this, thank you! And I apologize that I haven’t been doing it weekly, but when people tell me they read these I always get excited and am so honored you take the time to follow my long winded stories of the ranch! The last two weeks have been crazy but so much fun! We had two family reunions the week before last and let me tell you, it is adorable to have younger girls showing off their flips and splits, one of the little ones could even backbend and then run ...

July already?! Goodness.

July 1st2019 The sun was actually out the whole week!! Thank goodness. The week before last our guests had an adventure week because they dealt with wind, rain, sun, snow, hail… We barely got the cattle in before the snow came Saturday night! Wild week. We had sponsored four veteran families and man; the stories and the camaraderie were amazing. Kyle was particularly touched by the Pitman family he wrangled for, having his brothers in the military make everything troop related a little ...

SASQUATCH DOWN

June 15th2019 The whole week the weather was pretty much perfect! Brief rain shower once with some thunder but other than that we’ve been looking at blue skies and fluffy white clouds with highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s, perfect.  This week’s guest brought us four people from England and two from Wales and let me tell you, some of the English rules on the pool table lead to chaos! It’s hilarious to pretend to argue about who’s rules are better between America and England ...

For the love of pool, cattle and horses

Thursday June 6, 2019 Hope everyone out there has been doing well! Our weather is clearing up with some rain but overall its been beautiful up here over the last week. Some of our guests yesterday did get rain while rafting so came back to us doubly wet but full of memories because of it.  This week we have another small adults only week with just 17 people. Big and small weeks alike are always fun out here as we get to know everyone and then you end up being beaten in pool by all the ...

Two weeks in Snow & Sun 5/24 - 6/3

Hey y’all!  Congratulations! You’re reading the first 2019 blog of our season! This is exciting! My name is Amber Izdepski (The Z is scary, but I swear it’s phonetic - IS-DEP-SKI), this will be my first year here on the ranch and hopefully it won’t be my last. I come to your desktop from New Orleans, Louisiana but currently, and hopefully obviously, McCoy, Colorado and I can fully state that when the weather here in the Rockies says “100% humidity” - they most certainly are lying, as my ...

July. Done the American way

Colorado has brought us wonderful weather and spectacular views to match our amazing company we've hosted here at Black Mountain Ranch this July. Families from a variety of places across the world came together this past month to enjoy riding our vast trails, swimming & basking in our Colorado sunshine at Jake's Lake. Although we didn't snap a picture we had some guest appearances from our bald eagle friend and watched Mr. Bear cool off in the lake as well. The our eagle friend has stolen a ...
