Hope everyone out there has been doing well! Our weather is clearing up with some rain but overall its been beautiful up here over the last week. Some of our guests yesterday did get rain while rafting so came back to us doubly wet but full of memories because of it.
This week we have another small adults only week with just 17 people. Big and small weeks alike are always fun out here as we get to know everyone and then you end up being beaten in pool by all the fantastic players that pop up on our guest lists to knock our employees down a peg! Thanks for the tips on my game Rahn!
The Twinames are here again this year to celebrate their 20thanniversary and, of course, Cyndi May was supplies in hand ready to greet them with one of her famous pranks. She wallpapered their cabin with funny photos of her face that just about made every employee and guest laugh and wonder what was coming next - Eric didn’t disappoint with a heartfelt belly laugh of a speech on their anniversary and by giving each table their own copy of Cyndi’s face in addition to fortune cookies that spoke of love and the best is yet to come for them. It was both beautiful and hilarious - which is perfect for BMR.
Chris Collins brought us cattle this week, first on Monday then went back for the second load and came in last night - Wednesday (can’t miss Thursday night dancing of course!) he came a little later than anticipated by guests and employees since his trailer had a little leak that led to a two hours total drive to Napa Auto Parts and back so he could fix it before hitting the road. We welcomed him accordingly on his arrival with a lovely sunset over the mountains and some music and drinks in the saloon. Now they’re out pushing cattle up to Rufus in hopes they don’t come back down and eat all of Brice’s grass that’s on his lawn! We shall see how well that goes over the next few days. I’ll keep ya updated.
Pack Camp is beautiful but the pathway up is still a bit snowy, they brought shovels with them today to see what we can manage to clear before our trip up tomorrow night. I’m sure Rita is ready.
Tuesday I had the pleasure of riding the arena and then the trails with Cyndi - she let me ride her horse Blu, who is a wonderful gray gelding with a heart to win and the speed to get him there. Looking out over the valley and mountains is fantastic at any speed - especially when you trust your horse. And we got some good ones for all of our guests. As beautiful and fun as BMR is, we can’t always prevent tragedy as our dude horse Diesel colicked and sadly passed away this past Friday. No matter how many horses you have, it’s never easy to lose one of your own; they all have such distinct personalities and riding styles to offer and teach us. I’m a firm believer that it doesn’t matter how long you’ve ridden or worked with horses, you can always learn something from someone or some horse.
Today is Thursday so we’re all ready to celebrate the week in the saloon with live music, dancing, pool, drinks, Bobo’s good cooking and great company! I, for one, am looking forward to dancing and to shooting pool this evening. If you haven’t booked, you should. And if you have, then we can’t wait to share a week with y’all!
Until next time,
Amber IZ
