Yeehaw! The Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo is a rockin’, buckin’, wild ride! During the summer season, all our guests get to experience the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo every Friday night. What we’ve got up here is a very special event, as the area is rich in cowboy and cowgirl history and the rodeo is the most successful weekly rodeo in the US. Best of Week 11: Kids Galore!

Whew, what a full house we had last week! Over 40 guests stayed with us, including lots of families with young kids, most of whom were having their first experience at a dude ranch! The kids immediately fell in love with their horses! They especially enjoyed the ‘Pony Spa Session’ we put on in the corral. This is where the kids get a chance to brush, braid, and paint their ponies before competing in the arena games. Vail Veterans at Black Mountain Ranch

Just over a week ago we hosted  14 people from the Vail Veterans program. The group included young men and their families who have been hurt serving our country. The group included four double amputees, but this didn’t stop anyone from enjoying the dude ranch! We took them for a two hour ride and they all had a great time. Best of Week Nine: Sunshine, Rain, and Birthdays!

Summer is in full force out here in Colorado high country. If you’re familiar at all with Colorado weather, you’ll know she has a hard time making up her mind. This means we get drops of rain, followed by scorching sun. Needless to say, our pond gets used quite a lot in the summer for guests after a quick cool down! Best of Week Eight: Wildflowers and New Faces

  Wildflowers in bloom welcomed our 34 guests of week eight of our beautiful summer season at Black Mountain Ranch! We had just under 35 guests at the ranch, and all were newcomers. Best of Week Seven: Sunshine & Rain

Black Mountain Ranch saw a full house again this past week. We had about 40 guests, with 9 returning. We had to deal with quite a lot of unpexptected weather this past week, from thunderstorms to hail, and then right on hot summertime conditions. Fortunately, the weather didn’t didn’t dampen our guest’s enthusiasm one bit! Best of Week Six: Summer is in Full Swing

We had just shy of 40 guests this week. The Pichettes, who have been coming to Black Mountain Ranch for over 10 years were back. Mr. Zimmer also returned with his daughter and mother. The Hunter’s also returned, and the weather throughout the week was absolutely incredible! The kids made good use of the new stand up paddle boards at Jake’s Lake. Best of Week Five: Roadtrip to Pick up New Horses

Week five at Black Mountain Ranch was again, a full house! We had 42 guests at the ranch again. Most importantly, we went on a road trip and picked up some great new horses for y’all to ride! Amy, our Head Wrangler and Nicola were sent to Missouri to go shopping for new horses. Yeehaw! They took Kyle to help with the driving, which was good as they had to battle through a flat tire on the way there, as well as some torrential rain on the Kansas/Missouri border.
