Be Truthful, Gentle and Fearless. –Gandhi
We recently rediscovered the work of
Heather Jansch, a British sculptor whose work is most known for her full size driftwood horse sculptures.
What inspires us the most is her passion. Growing up a country girl, Heather knew she wanted to be surrounded by horses and become an artist. After a rocky relationship as a young adult with schooling and its confines, she went on to study at Goldsmith College in London. A year into the program Heather states, “I was asked to leave the course. I was told that I did not have the stuff that painters were made from….. My confidence was shattered.”
When many artists and creative’s might have traded their life’s work into something more stable, Heather was determined to continue to pave her own path. After trial and error, with and without support, Heather gained the friendship and advice of her mentor, Arthur Giardelli.
Heather's fearlessness is a living story of trusting your work, yourself and carving your own path. Her work and her life size driftwood horses are now seen on display around the world. We all have our own story, and hers continues to remind us of why we are here and the roots and inspiration of how Black Mountain Ranch came to be. Can to join us at our Colorado Dude Ranch on your journey?
We love to have you.
